Mr Miller
Following is my reply.
1. When you first ran for
Aldermen, why did you run?
In my bio at you will see my
background in city organizations and my care and concern
for the community. This should give you a general idea of
why I ran then and in 2004.

2. Did you think you would
win your first election?
Yes
3. In 1995 why did you decide
to run for mayor?
The Administration of Mayor Bob Jones during the first
years I served was almost exclusively focused towards
development of the East Gate and later South Gate
industrial parks. While new companies and employment are
critical, I became greatly concerned with the inner city
and neighborhood’s rapid physical decline. I ran on the
need for Neighborhood Revitalization and halting the
disintegration of the downtown area. I believed that the
appearance of Danville created hindrances to the
attraction of new business to move here, regardless of the
attraction of developed land for building. Since then
mayor Jones and Eisenhauer and the council have made great
strides in these areas of concern and decline in the City.
4. In 2004 did you expect the
election to be as close as it was?
Yes, see my short essay on
the elections posted in my Bio. Click and See

5. Do you ever plan to seek
the Mayor's office again? NO Mayor Jones and I both
discussed this at length and would not consider running
for the office as we both could be in our late seventies before
finishing our terms (as would be Dr Fields, also).
Serving as an Alderman, because of limited time
requirements, would be acceptable for a senior
citizen as long as health or other restrictions do not
cause the Alderman to miss meetings regularly (this of
course should apply to all Aldermen regardless of age). We felt
that a younger generation should step up in leadership for
the new century. One of the reason I (and Mayor Jones)
supported Eisenhauer over Fields is the age reason and the
affect the time and increasing demands can have on on
one's health.
I ran again for City Council
only, believing that I could best help the city and the
new Mayor by offering my input and experience through the
Council. And that my age would not be a hindrance since
the aldermanic office is considerable less demanding then
a full time Mayor.
